Who Won The Scottish Elections?

Okay people it's time to put this to bed once and for all Ruth Davidson MSP did not win the 2017 General Election in Scotland and Scottish Labour do not run Holyrood. Sorry to disappoint you all, but it's TRUE

Lets look at the current make up of Holyrood the Scottish Parliament, now whilst Kezia Dugdale the Scottish Labour leader may want to run things and Ruth Davidson the Scottish Conservative leader tells people that she is in charge, it is sadly very far from the truth.

In fact it is the SNP under First Minister Nicola Sturgeon that has the most seats in Holyrood, no, its not exaggerated its true, the SNP hold 63 seats, Scottish Conservatives only have 31 and poor old Scottish Labour only have 23, so even with the unofficial Scottish Labour/Tory partnership they are 7 seats short of being in charge.

In fact it would need both the Greens and the Liberal Democrats to join the Lab/Con coalition for any party to take control from the SNP. So don't kid yourselves people, for now and indeed until the next Scottish Election on Thursday the 6th of May 2021, the SNP are firmly in command of Scotland's affairs.

Even the Local Council Elections saw the SNP gain 31 seats making it the largest party with 431 seats

Now then, let's take a quick look at Scotland's representation in Westminster. It's true that Labour, Conservatives and Lib Dems regained seats in the 2017 snap election, but it's untrue that any of these parties won.

The results clearly show that the SNP took 35 yes 35 of the 59 seats, Scottish Conservatives only took 13 so that's hardly a win for Ruth Davidson, and poor old Scottish Labour only managed 7 seats which kind of reflects the nations view towards the party that left them with so much debt.

Kezia Dugdales election campaign was run on the premise of keeping the SNP out of Westminster. So much was her hatred of the Scottish National Party that she openly told voters in many constituencies to vote for the Tories. It was clearly her ambition to keep the SNP out at all and any cost.

This turned out to be her big failure, because by doing so it let the Tories well and truly in through the back door. Now then, all that being said there are some that say that it was Scottish Labour that ultimately lost the General Election for Jeremy Corbyn...

So in Summary... The SNP won the Scottish Parliamentary Election, The Local Council Elections and they also won the 2017 General Election in Scotland... That makes it a Treble Win by my count...

So it looks like the SNP not only won, but they won in style.... Now isn't that a "SURPRISE"
