I have said all along that the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) was a bad idea and that those voting to leave the EU in the hope that it would be reversed were just kidding themselves.

The way I see it, the only way  that Scotland can successfully reclaim its fishing rights is through independence, that way the CFP as it stands now would automatically be scrapped and would give Scotland a chance to negotiated a new deal on its fishing rights after they have been accepted into the EU, that is assuming of course that the Scottish fishing industry still wants to share its fishing waters with other countries and accept fishing quota's as it does now....

Personally I would tell them to go fish in their own waters.....

My area is a Tory stronghold but it looks like they may not get so many votes this time round especially from the farming community.
Last year farmers received £2.1bn in direct subsidies and £600m in rural development payments through the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). In 2015, 21,460 Scottish businesses received a CAP payment from EC funds. Of these, 18,875 businesses received £415 Million for Pillar 1 payments (SFPS 2014 and SBS 2014). £198 Million (EC +National money) was paid out on Pillar 2 (SRDP) schemes. In 2015 one farming company received a whopping Single area payment scheme payment of £419,855.47 (source: http://cap-payments.defra.gov.uk) No wonder so many farmers voted to stay in the EU.

After Brexit there will be no more EU subsidies and personally I can't see many EU countries wanting to buy our meat or crops when their own farmers can produce it much cheaper with the aid of their EU subsidies and grants...

With many state run services like Education, Social Care, the NHS, Police, Fire and Ambulance Services so underfunded I doubt that the Government will be able to make up the shortfall in subsidies. So as far as farming goes the new rule will be "If you can't sell it don't grow it" and this will no doubt see an end to many of our farms and the communities that rely on them...
