Theresa May Faces Benefit Sanctions...

If Theresa May loses seats in this election and resigns or gets fired, she may well be classed as voluntarily unemployed, and will not be able to claim Job-seeker's Allowance or Universal Credit. She will also face a sanction of up to 26 weeks without any benefit at all.

Her case will be referred to an Adjudication Officer who will decide if it's fair and, if so, how long the sanction applies for. They will write to her employers for their side of the story. During this period she will be on no benefit whatsoever, that being said, she may qualify for a reduced benefit if she can prove hardship.

She will find it very hard to convince the Adjudication Officer that she did everything she could to keep her Job, especially as she failed on at least 2 occasions to attend important Job Interviews, these being the ITV and BBC Leaders Debates.

There may also be a limit on the total amount of benefit her household can get. If her income is above this limit, her Housing Benefit may be reduced. This is called the Benefit Cap, which incidentally was reduced by the conservative party taking effect from the 07/11/2016.

Although I can't help her in regards to her job loss I can point her to a website that many of her parties constituents have had to use when faced with similar benefit sanctions...
